Intestinal Complications Linked to Increased Risk of Hand Arthritis

Researchers assessed the digestive health of 191 subjects with a history of symptomatic hand arthritis.

Compared to the control group, subjects with hand arthritis displayed higher degree of intestinal permeability, suggesting compromise of the integrity of the digestive system.

Conclusions

Complications to the digestion system may systemically increase inflammation levels across the body in a manner that increases susceptibility to degenerative conditions such as hand arthritis.
