Low Zinc and Iron Intake Linked to Increased Risk for Tinnitus

Researchers analyzed the dietary habits of 935 patients with a history of ringing in the ears (“tinnitus”).

Compared to the healthy controls, low zinc intake increased the risk of tinnitus by 44%, while low iron intake increased the risk by 35%.

Conclusions

Individuals with a history of ringing in the ears should obtain lab testing for zinc and iron deficiencies.
