Rotator Cuff Strengthening Leads to Improved Joint Centration

Researchers performed ultrasound on 30 patients shoulders before and after a physical therapy rehabilitation plan.

Compared to the control group, the patients who participated in rotator cuff strengthening exercises demonstrated improved ability for the shoulder to remain in the center of the joint during overhead reaching.

Conclusions

Rotator cuff strengthening can reduce the risk of shoulder pain and injury by improving joint centration and enhancing reaching kinematics.
