Elevated Blood Sugar Reduces Pain Tolerance

Researchers tested pain tolerance levels in 64 subjects following ingestion of various forms of sweeteners.

Compared to the control group, the subjects with elevated blood glucose demonstrated significantly worsened pain tolerance immediately following ingestion of sugar.

Conclusions

Maintaining healthy blood sugar levels may play a critical role in rehabilitating from chronic musculoskeletal pain conditions.
