Wearing orange goggles may be a useful strategy for improving sleep.
In a new study, subjects who wore orange goggles for two hours prior to bedtime reported sleeping for an extra 30 minutes each night, and sleep was deemed to be higher quality and more restful.
Conclusions
Light causes the pineal gland to inhibit melatonin production, and this inhibition of melatonin can dramatically impair one’s ability to properly fall asleep. Light from computers, cell phones, or other sources interferes with our body’s natural mechanisms for regulating sleep. Individuals who are serious about maximizing the health benefits of sleep should consider using orange goggles or other methods for minimizing light exposure prior to sleep.
