Plyometric Training Improves Posture and Balance in Elderly

Plyometric training improves the posture of the elderly.

According to a new study, subjects who were trained to catch a medicine ball displayed positive adaptations in anticipatory postural adjustment.  These adaptations could be highly beneficial towards preventing falls, which is a serious, life-threatening concern for all individuals of a certain age range.

Conclusions

Many people may mistakenly assume that plyometric training is only valuable for athletes, but the reality is that everybody can benefit from these types of adaptations.  Plyometrics can be a valuable component of nearly everybody’s workout regimen, including the elderly.
