People suffering from digestive problems are at a an increased risk for vitamin D deficiency.
A new study in the journal “BMJ Open Gastroenterology” examined 51 people with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). 82% of IBS patients were deficient in vitamin D, and vitamin D levels correlated with severity of symptoms.
Conclusions
Maintaining optimal vitamin D status could potentially be crucial for promoting health of the digestive system.
