Vitamin D Deficiency Increases Risk for Musculoskeletal Injury

One of the keys to preventing muscular injuries may be to maintain optimal vitamin D status.

In a new study in the “Orthopedic Journal of Sports Medicine”, researchers analyzed health metrics of 145 NCAA Division I track athletes. The athletes who were deficient in vitamin D were significantly more likely to sustain a muscular injury over the course of the season.

Conclusions

Maintaining optimal vitamin D status may be key for preventing musculoskeletal injury.
